PRUDENTIAL APPOINTS NEW FINANCE DIRECTOR

With reference to the announcement of 6 April 2000 regarding the Group Finance
Director, Prudential plc has today appointed Philip Broadley (39) as an
executive director of the Company.  He joins the Company from Arthur Andersen
where he was a partner and Chief Operating Officer of the UK Financial
Services Industry assurance practice with responsibility for audit and risk
consulting services to the firm's insurance and banking clients.
