Sula awarded the Ebola Medal for Services in West Africa

Sula (AIM: SULA), a multi-commodity exploration company focused on Sierra Leone, is pleased to announce that its CEO, Nick Warrell, on behalf of the Company, has received the 'Ebola Medal for Service in West Africa' from the UK Ministry of Defence.  This follows Sula's contribution to Sierra Leone's fight against the 2014/2015 Ebola Virus Disease (''EVD'').

In keeping with Sula's Corporate and Social Responsibility programme, the Company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Blue Horizon (SL) Limited ('Blue Horizon') donated aid and assistance directly on the ground in Sierra Leone, where the Company's flagship Ferensola Project is located, to help combat the spread of EVD.  Both companies equipped three task forces with infrared thermometers and chlorine solution for hand washing and gave food rations to the Youths (Young Men) who manned the check points on a twenty four hour basis.

In addition to this, with the support of the Sula's employees and supportive shareholders, Nick Warrell and Des Congdon, a Director of Blue Horizon, were able to carry out planned exploration at its Ferensola Project during this period, notably being among a handful of companies which continued day-to-day operations in the region during the pandemic, ensuring on-going employment in the region.

The EVD outbreak in West Africa was first notified in March 2014 and was the largest and most complex Ebola outbreak since the Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976. On 7 November 2015, the World Health Organization officially declared Sierra Leone free of Ebola.

Commenting on the news, Nick Warrell said: ''I am immensely proud of Sula and Blue Horizon's actions during what was an exceedingly difficult period in Sierra Leone's history. Our activities on the ground helped prevent the spread of EVD in three Chiefdoms in Northern Sierra Leone and ensured continuity at a local economical level and in this respect, we are delighted to have received recognition for this from the UK's Ministry of Defence."
