Portmeirion Potteries (Holdings) PLC announces the appointment
of  Hon  Barbara  Thomas as a Non-executive  Director  of  the
Company with effect from 1 March 2000.

Mr Ralley, Chairman - designate, announced 'Barbara Thomas has
extensive business experience both in the USA and the UK and I
am  sure  that  she  will  be a major  asset  in  the  ongoing
development of the Company'.
