Portmeirion Group PLC has today been advised that  on  31
August 2000, Fortress Finance Investments Inc., a British
Virgin  Islands  corporation, purchased  17,500  ordinary
shares  in the company, and now holds a total of  320,000
ordinary  shares representing 3.08% of the  issued  share
capital.
