Interests in shares in the Company

By a letter dated 28 June 2001 received today, Barclays PLC has notified Old
Mutual plc that it is interested through its subsidiary Barclays Bank PLC, for
the purposes of Part VI of the Companies Act 1985, in a total of 154,822,132
ordinary shares in Old Mutual plc, representing 4.35% of the current issued
ordinary share capital of the Company.
