                                  Trading Update


In line with best practice Old Mutual has previously indicated it would make a
trading update in the fourth quarter of this year ahead of the close period
prior to announcing results for the year to 31 December 2002 in February 2003.


Old Mutual confirms its intention to make such a trading statement on Monday 25
November 2002, with a conference call for analysts at 9.30 UK time (11.30 SA
time).
