                              Preliminary Results

                            Monday 28 February 2005



Old Mutual plc will release its preliminary results for the year ended 31
December 2004 at 7.00 a.m. UK time, 9.00 a.m. South African time, on Monday 28
February 2005. Following this there will be a presentation on the results at
9.30 a.m. UK time, 11.30 a.m. SA time.


Jim Sutcliffe, Chief Executive, will host the presentation in London and Julian
Roberts, Group Finance Director, will host the presentation in Johannesburg.
There will be a satellite link between the venues in the UK and South Africa.
The addresses for the presentations are Old Mutual Place, 2 Lambeth Hill, London
EC4V 4GG and Old Mutual Square, Isibaya Building, 93 Grayston Drive, Sandton
2196, Johannesburg.


A live webcast of the presentation together with copies of the slides will be
