PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 18 January 2006 it purchased for cancellation
under an existing authority granted by shareholders 5,000 ordinary shares of 25p
each in the market at a price of 72.2p, representing approximately 0.01 per cent
of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.  There remain 39,078,002
ordinary shares in issue.
