National World steps-up JPI's digital transformation

National World, (LSE: NWOR) has agreed on the terms of a far-reaching IT overhaul which will see JPIMedia's entire IT infrastructure and content creation operations moved to Google Cloud. Over time, the programme aims to place enhanced tools in the hands of journalists, reduce costs and enable maximum operational efficiency for reporters in the field and reduce the company's carbon footprint.

As part of the new contract, CTS will lead a High Velocity Migration on to Google Cloud, and subsequently work on an accelerated programme with JPIMedia over the coming years.

National World's strategy involves consolidation and change by combining acquired digital technology innovation and traditional print assets in a new industry model designed to grow revenue by aggregation of audiences and maximising efficiencies.

CTS works with its strategic partners to provide innovative funding models, helping clients overcome the initial investment hurdle which can often be cost prohibitive to organisations starting their migration.

CTS and Google Cloud will migrate all existing on-premises workloads into the cloud, followed by a second phase where an ongoing series of modernisation projects will help optimise the environment and applications.

The savings made through the programme will help the company grow its digital content across its portfolio and provide improved subscription models to customers seeking hyper-local news in their areas through the use of enhanced digital technology infrastructure and innovation.

David Montgomery, Executive Chairman, National World, said:

"We're excited about the new partnership with CTS and Google Cloud that will help us modernise our digital capabilities and achieve our ambitious strategic goals.

"Since inception, National World has been forging partnerships with technology businesses in order to match content to audiences, optimising sales and subscription revenue."
