Intelig

Contrary to the Reuters news item of 4 July, Intelig's
operating losses for the six months to 30 June 2001 are
slightly below (ie better than) the budget for Intelig's
current financial year agreed between Intelig's management
and shareholders last December. Furthermore, National Grid
reaffirms its previous statement, in its preliminary results
announcement on 22 May,that its share of Intelig's operating
losses for the year ended 31 March 2002 is expected to be
significantly less than its share of operating losses for
the year ended 31 March 2001.
