AGREEMENT TO SELL VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR PLANT

National Grid notes today's announcement that Entergy Corporation and the
Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation have reached agreement to sell the
Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant to Entergy for $180m.

National Grid owns a 22.5 per cent minority interest in the Vermont Yankee
plant through its New England Power Company subsidiary.
