notified National Grid yesterday that Mr R P Sergels' interests 
in NGG shares were increased by the following purchases: 

56.39 Ordinary Share ADRs on 22 February 2001 at $44.70 per ADR; 
and 63.56 Ordinary Share ADRs on 27 March 2001 at $39.66 per ADR; 
and 24.35 Ordinary Share ADRs on 24 April 2001 at $38.49 per ADR.
