Following a gas explosion in December 1999 in Scotland which caused the tragic
deaths of four persons, Transco plc ('Transco') was yesterday fined £15 million
by the High Court in Edinburgh.

Whilst deeply regretting what happened, Transco is disappointed with the verdict
and is considering the judgment in detail.

Safety is paramount to all Transco's operations and it is committed to operating
its networks to the highest standards of safety and reliability.
