Mothercare plc will today host an analyst and investor day in Basingstoke. The
day will comprise presentations on Mothercare's international business and its
out-of-town store format development, as well as a visit to the re-formatted
Basingstoke store.

As previously announced, Mothercare expects to make a pre-close statement for
the 28 weeks to 14th October 2006 on 19th October 2006 ahead of the interim
results announcement on 16th November 2006. Accordingly, Mothercare will not be
giving any update on current trading today.
