TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS

In accordance with the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rule 5.6, Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust plc ("the Company") advises that as at 31 May 2012 the Company's issued share capital consists of 17,448,260 ordinary shares, of which 815,000 shares are held in treasury. 

Therefore the total number of shares with voting rights in Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust plc is 16,633,260 ordinary shares.

The above figures (16,633,260) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
