Jolyon Harrison appointed MD of Gleeson Regeneration & Homes

Gleeson (GLE.L), the urban regeneration and strategic land specialist, announces the appointment of Jolyon Harrison as Managing Director of Gleeson Regeneration & Homes, which is based in Sheffield and Bury (Lancs), with effect from Monday 2 November 2009.

Jolyon Harrison, 61, has had a successful career in house building in the North of England spanning over 40 years. He was the Chairman of Chesterfield-based Pelham Construction/NorthCountry Homes Group from 1995 to 2007 (in 2006, it built 1,153 homes and made a pre-tax profit of £35 m on a turnover of £133 m). Before that, he was Managing Director of York-based Shepherd Homes from 1984 to 1995 and at Wilcon Homes from 1976 to 1984, latterly as Regional Director in the North. 

Currently, he is Chairman of York Housing Association and JDP Rooflines, a Co. Durham-based company involved in housing regeneration and repair, and a Council member of the Home Builders Federation. Until recently, he was a member of the North East Housing Board and a Council member of the National House Building Council.

Jolyon Harrison said "I am greatly looking forward to the challenge of making a significant contribution to Gleeson which, with more than 100 years of service to the community, will once again become a serious player in the affordable homes-for-sale marketplace". Jolyon Harrison purchased 1,000,000 Gleeson shares (1.9% of the issued share capital) in June 2009 and his wife, Carol Harrison, a further 7,000 shares in July 2009. 

Jolyon Harrison succeeds Colin Rossiter, who continues in his other role as Managing Director of Gleeson Capital Solutions, Gleeson's business which secures and invests in social housing PFI contracts.
