EUTELSAT broadcasts nearly 700 analogue and digital TV channels to more than 81 million satellite and cable homes. The agreement is the latest in a series of ventures by e-district with high profile organisations, including the provision of controlled community internet access to cable platform subscriber services, including Cable & Wireless Communications plc, and Telewest plc, and the provision of content to ISPs, including Freeserve. Steve Laitman, Chief Executive of e-district plc, said: 'This agreement will allow EUTELSAT's subscribers to have broadband satellite access to e-district's interactive community and Internet services. We will be able to test the expansion of our offering to a satellite platform and provide us the opportunity to tailor our content services and advertising tools to this medium. The ability to reach EUTELSAT's satellite subscribers, particularly in Europe, complements our existing strength in the cable market.'
