THE MERCHANTS TRUST PLC-VOTING RIGHTS AND CAPITAL


The following replaces the 'Total Voting Rights' announcement released on
Wednesday, 1 August 2007 under RNS 3465B, which omitted to include the company's
Cumulative Preference Shares.  The full amended text appears below.

In accordance with its obligations under rule 5.6.1 of the Disclosure and
Transparency Rules, we would like to notify the market of the following:


As at 31 July 2007, The Merchants Trust PLC's capital consisted of:

under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
