                                   AGM ANNOUNCEMENT


The Chairman of McBride PLC, Lord Sheppard of Didgemere, will make the following
announcement at today's AGM:

'I am pleased to announce that trading since 1 July 2004 has been in line with
expectations.

The trading environment in the first quarter of the current year has remained
competitive. Sales have continued to increase in Continental Europe whilst the
UK has suffered a small decline in sales.

Higher sales combined with the continuing focus on improving operational
efficiency and the management of the supply chain has increased profitability
despite the rise in raw material prices. Underlying cash generation from trading
remains strong.

A number of further initiatives are being introduced to improve efficiency;
these are designed to ensure the Group is well placed to meet the challenges
ahead. '
