Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 3 August  2009,  bought  back
11,632   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  102.50p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 121,415,091 ordinary shares remain in issue.
