Appointment of new Chair

The Board of Martin Currie Global Portfolio Trust plc ("the Company") announces that, in line with the succession plan indicated in the half yearly financial report, Neil Gaskell will step down as Chair of the Board and will be succeeded by Gillian Watson as Chair on February 1st, 2021.   Neil has served as Chair for nine years during which the Trust has grown to £300m and delivered continuing positive returns to shareholders. Gillian Watson has acted as a non-executive director for the Company since 1 April 2013 and is an excellent successor bringing a wealth of experience to the role of Chair.

Gillian commented: "I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chair at this exciting time in the Trust's evolution.  Neil has expertly guided the Board while overseeing significant growth throughout his nine year tenure as Chair and leaves the Trust in excellent shape."
