In its announcement of preliminary results on 31 March 2004, Macfarlane Group
plc ('Macfarlane') indicated the board's intention to declare a special interim
dividend for 2004. After careful consideration of the Group's trading and
investment requirements, and as an expression of its confidence in the progress
being made, the board has today declared a special interim dividend of 0.75p per
share which will be paid on 27 May 2004 to shareholders on the register at close
of business on 23 April 2004.
