Legal & General Group Plc announces that on 18 July 2008 it purchased for cancellation 264,040 Ordinary shares of 2.5p each through UBS.  The highest price paid was 97p per share and the lowest price paid was 94.80p per share.  The purchase was made in accordance with the irrevocable instruction given to UBS prior to, and announced by Legal & General Group Plc, on 30 June 2008.
