Legal & General Group Plc announces that on 16 July 2008 it purchased for
cancellation 2,394,513 Ordinary shares of 2.5p each through UBS.  The highest price paid was 92.20p per share and the lowest price paid was 88.80p per share.  The purchase was made in accordance with the irrevocable instruction given to UBS prior to, and announced by Legal & General Group Plc, on 
30 June 2008.
