Legal & General Group Plc ('the Group') has been advised that, as at 5 December
2006, the subsidiaries of Swiss Reinsurance Company had a beneficial interest in
204,842,883 Ordinary shares of 2.5p of the Group, which represented 3.14% of the
issued share capital on that date.
