Acquisition of Wet Concentrator Plant

Kenmare Resources PLC 7 January 2000 Kenmare Resources plc ('Kenmare' or 'the Company') Purchase of Wet Concentrator Plant for Titanium Project Kenmare is pleased to announce that it has completed an agreement to purchase a wet concentrator plant ('the Plant') from The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited ('BHP'). The Plant was utilised as part of the BHP mineral sands process facility located at Beenup, Australia which was closed in early 1999 due to mining difficulties with the orebody. BHP has advised the Company that the Plant cost approximately A$67 million. Kenmare has agreed to pay BHP A$2.5 million (Stg£1 million) for the Plant, payable on a phased basis by 30 April, 2001. Mr. Charles Carvill, Chairman of Kenmare, commented as follows: 'Kenmare has seized a unique opportunity by purchasing this plant.
