                 JPMORGAN FLEMING MID CAP INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


                 REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION


JPMorgan Fleming Mid Cap Investment Trust plc announces that on Monday 9th
August 2004 in the market it purchased for cancellation 1,568,000 ordinary
shares at 300 pence per share representing 4.1% of the ordinary shares in issue.

The current repurchase authority for 5,782,392 shares was approved by
shareholders on 5th November 2003.  To date 1,568,000 shares have been
repurchased under this authority.

The remaining shares in issue following this repurchase totals 37,007,000.
