THE FLEMING EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

London, 2nd November, 2001

At the Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 1 November, shareholders passed
a resolution for the continuation of the Company for a further five years.

Approximately 60% of shareholders voted, with 99.9% in favour of the
continuation of the Company.

Shareholders also passed a Special Resolution authorising the Company to make
market purchases of its issued share capital for cancellation.
