                     JPMORGAN CHINESE INVESTMENT TRUST PLC



                                ISSUE OF SHARES





JPMorgan Chinese Investment Trust plc announces that today, Wednesday 3rd
January 2007, it issued 300,000 ordinary shares to a market participant at 103
pence per share representing 0.41% of the ordinary shares in issue.



It is expected that the new ordinary shares will be admitted to listing on the
Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on the main market of
the London Stock Exchange on Monday 8th January 2007.



The number of shares issued under the current authority totals 300,000.  A
further 21,790,000 shares are available for issue under the authority granted at
the EGM held on 1st August 2006.



The shares in issue following this notification are 74,287,001.
