                         STOCK EXCHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT



                   THE FLEMING CHINESE INVESTMENT TRUST PLC







The Board announces today that 2 valid applications have been received for the
exercise of 420 warrants to subscribe for 420 ordinary shares of 25 pence
each.



These shares have now been issued and will rank pari passu with the existing
ordinary shares.



Application will be made to the London Stock Exchange for 420 ordinary shares
of 25 pence each ('the New Shares') to be admitted to the Official List.  It
is expected that permission to admit the New Shares will be granted on Friday
16th February 2001 and that the dealings will commence on Monday 19th February
2001.



Following the subscription of shares by the Company, the number of ordinary
shares in issue will increase to 58,636,460 and the number of warrants will be
11,998,380 on 16th February 2001.
