                 REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION


JPMorgan American Investment Trust plc has today purchased 67,000 ordinary
shares for cancellation at 685.16 pence per share.


Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue total 43,070,949.
