Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange and the UK Listing
Authority for a Blocklisting of 5,422,170 Ordinary shares of £1.00 each of
Johnson Matthey PLC to be admitted to the Official List.  The shares will be
listed in connection with:-


1995 Approved Executive Share Option Scheme                       786,000 shares

1995 Overseas executive Share Option Scheme                     3,344,000 shares

2001 Executive Share Option Scheme Part A/B                     1,200,000 shares

Meconic 1995 Approved Scheme                                       61,677 shares

Meconic Sharesave Scheme                                           29,500 shares

Meconic 1996 Share Scheme                                             993 shares


The shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing issued
ordinary share capital of the company.
