                 TRADING IN SUBDIVIDED INVESTEC ORDINARY SHARES

Further to the announcement made on Friday, 11th August 2006, confirming that
shareholders approved the subdivision of the ordinary shares of both Investec
plc and Investec Limited by way of a five for one split such that each existing
ordinary share will be divided into five new ordinary shares, shareholders are
reminded that trading in the new ordinary shares will commence at the start of
trading on the London Stock Exchange and the JSE Limited on Monday, 4th
September 2006.

Each new ordinary share will carry the same rights as an existing ordinary
share.  Following this subdivision, Investec plc has 377 168 730 and Investec
Limited has 225 497 635 ordinary shares in issue.
