NOVEMBER 2013 - IAG GROUP TRAFFIC AND CAPACITY STATISTICS

 

§ In November 2013, Group traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres increased by 8.4 per cent versus November 2012 (up 1.6 per cent on a pro-forma basis); Group capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres rose by 9.5 per cent (up 2.6 per cent on a pro-forma basis).

§ Group premium traffic for the month of November increased by 6.3 per cent compared to the previous year.

§ The comparison with last year for load factors in North America was affected by the impact of Hurricane Sandy and a difference in the timing of the Thanksgiving holiday.

§ Underlying market conditions remain unchanged from those described at the publication of Capital Markets Day and Quarter Three results.

STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENTS

On 20 November, Vueling announced that next summer it will operate 24 new routes from Rome-Fiumicino airport with eight dedicated aircraft. It also announced a new base and seven new routes at Brussels. In addition, Vueling was awarded the best performing airline in Europe during 2013 by the prestigious industry organisation, CAPA.

 

British Airways' subsidiary BA CityFlyer announced plans to add three more Embraer regional jets to its fleet at London City Airport. The extra aircraft will enable the airline to launch new services to Rotterdam and Florence and extra frequencies to Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Zurich from Spring 2014.

 

On 21 November, Iberia unveiled the first aircraft fitted out with its new livery. The Airbus A330 is named 'Juan Carlos I' and is equipped with new Economy and Business cabins. In addition, Iberia's subsidiary Iberia Express, has launched services to Berlin and announced plans to start flights to Stockholm next April.
