                  Inchcape appoints new Non-executive Director

Inchcape plc, the international automotive services group, is pleased to
announce the appointment of David Scotland as a Non-executive Director, with
immediate effect.

David Scotland was appointed to the Board of Allied Domecq plc in 1995 as
Executive Director and President, Europe. In 2002 he took the position of
Executive Director and President, World Wines.

He is also a Non-executive Director of Brixton plc and of Photo-Me International
plc, and was previously, from 1998 to 2000, a Non-executive Director for the
Thompson Travel Group plc.

In accordance with paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that
there are no details to be disclosed under paragraph 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the
Listing Rules.
