Home Retail Group plc ('the Company') has today received a notification from
Barclays PLC ('Barclays') advising that Barclays now holds 26,369,047 ordinary
shares in the Company (representing 3.01% of the issued ordinary share capital
of the Company).

The notification was issued pursuant to Sections 198 to 202 of the Companies Act
1985 and was dated 14 November 2006.
