Board Appointments

Home Retail Group plc, the UK's leading home and general merchandise retailer, announces that Ian Durant and Cath Keers will join its Board as non-executive directors with effect from 6 July 2011 and 1 September 2011 respectively.

Oliver Stocken, Chairman of Home Retail Group, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Ian and Cath to Home Retail Group.  Ian has wide-ranging experience as a Finance Director both in retail and other sectors and as a non-executive director.  Cath has a strong background in retail and consumer marketing and also considerable non-executive experience.  The perspectives they will bring from their backgrounds and experience will make them strong additions to our Board."

Ian Durant is non-executive chairman of Capital and Counties Properties PLC and a non-executive director of Greene King plc.

Cath Keers is a non-executive director of LV=, The Royal Mail Group, Telefonica 02 Europe and The Children's Mutual.

In accordance with the Listing Rules, Home Retail Group confirms that, except as noted below, there are no matters relating to Ian Durant and Cath Keers that would require disclosure under LR 9.6.13R (2) to LR 9.6.13R (6).

Ian Durant was a director of SeaContainers Services Ltd and SeaContainers Treasury Ltd, both subsidiaries of SeaContainers Ltd, in the period prior to SeaContainers Ltd entering a creditors' voluntary liquidation.

Ian Durant is a chartered accountant with a background in international financial and commercial management.  Ian's career includes periods with Hanson, Jardine Matheson, Hongkong Land, Dairy Farm International, Thistle Hotels, SeaContainers and Liberty International.  He is non-executive chairman of Capital and Counties Properties PLC and a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee of Greene King plc. 

Cath Keers has over twenty years experience in marketing and consumer oriented roles including periods at Next, Avon, Sky TV and latterly as customer director for O2 leading on strategy, marketing and customer service.  She is a non-executive director of LV= and chairs its remuneration committee.  She is also a non-executive director on the Telefonica O2 Europe board and a non-executive director of the Royal Mail Group and The Childrens Mutual where she also chairs its remuneration committee.
