HENDERSON SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


The issuer has made the following correction to the
HENDERSON SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC - PURCHASE OF OWN SECURITIES
announcement released on 27 September 1999 at 17:36 under RNS No 1218p.  

In the announcement made yesterday, the Company stated they had bought back 978
shares at 276.00p.  That announcement was made in error.

What actually happened was that Mr Peter Cadbury, a director, purchased 978
shares at 276.00p bringing his total beneficial holding to 10,848 shares.
