Mr R J G Richards, Chief Executive of Hammerson plc, exercised options on 9
December 2003 over 11,400 ordinary 25p shares at 390p per share and 12,000
ordinary 25p shares at 456.5p per share.

Mr Richards then sold 18,400 of the resultant 23,400 shares at 643p per share on
9 December 2003.

Following this exercise, Mr Richards holds options under the Company's Executive
Share Option Scheme over a further 129,608 ordinary 25p shares.  Mr RIchards has
increased his holding of shares in the Company to 20,563.
