                                 Board Change



The Board of GlaxoSmithKline plc announces that Mr. Derek Bonham has decided
not to stand for election as a Non-executive Director of GlaxoSmithKline at
the company's Annual General Meeting to be held on 21st May 2001 ('AGM'). Mr.
Bonham will therefore cease to be a member of the Board with effect from the
conclusion of the AGM.

Mr. Bonham was appointed a Non-executive Director of GlaxoSmithKline plc in
May 2000 and had been a Non-executive Director of Glaxo Wellcome plc since
1995.
