August 2000, Malcolm Simpson, a director of the Company, purchased 1,000
ordinary shares of 20p each (0.008% of the issued share capital) at £24.30 per
share into his personal beneficial holding.

The total beneficial and non-beneficial holdings of Malcolm Simpson (excluding
interests in share options) following this notification are:-
