Genus plc ('the Company')

Treasury Shares

The Company announces that today it has purchased a further 122,252 ordinary
shares of 10p each at 247.5p per share for holding as Treasury.

Today's purchase arises from 244 smaller shareholders who have tendered their
shares for sale in to the voluntary buy-back scheme.

The issued share capital of the Company is 36,561,542 shares including 1,491,585
(4.07%) Treasury shares.

For reporting purposes under section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 the market
should exclude any shares held in treasury and should use a figure of 35,069,957
shares.
