                     Trading update - Genus Distribution

The Board of Genus announces that due to recent trading difficulties at
Genusxpress, underlying pre-tax profits for Genus plc for the full year to 31
March 2001 are expected to be below market expectations but should be
significantly ahead of last year. A new management team has now been installed
at Genusxpress to re-establish business levels. The Board will announce the
interim results for the half year to 30 September 2000 during the week
commencing 20 November 2000.
