                               TRADING STATEMENT


Extract from the statement made at the Annual General Meeting held today: 7 July
2004.

"As we reported in our preliminary results announcement on Friday, 28 May 2004,
we have seen an encouraging uplift in sales from our refurbished managed pubs
and bars and believe that we are emerging from a trading downturn in the City.
The improved performance of our hotels, which began in the final quarter of the
last financial year, continues to be sustained.

We are confident that the prospects for Fuller's are good and one of our core
strengths continues to be the breadth and balance of our business."
