REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES

The Board of Finsbury Growth Trust PLC announces that on 9 February 2000 the
Company repurchased for cancellation 1,550,000 of the Company's ordinary shares
of 25p representing 3.5% of the issued ordinary share capital, at a price of
180.5p per share.

To date the Company has repurchased 3,376,070 ordinary shares, representing 7.3%
of the original issued shares. There are 42,623,930 ordinary shares remaining in
issue.
