The Board of Finsbury Growth Trust PLC announces that on 11 January 2000 the
Company repurchased for cancellation 100,000 of the Company's ordinary shares of
25p, representing 0.2% of the issued ordinary share capital, at a price of
195.0p per share.

To date the Company has repurchased 1,576,070 ordinary shares, representing 3.4%
of the original issued shares.  There are 44,423,930 ordinary shares remaining
in issue.
