                          FILTRONIC PLC: BOARD CHANGE

               Board Change and Appointment of Company Secretary



Filtronic plc ('Filtronic'), a leading global designer and manufacturer of
customised microwave electronic subsystems for the wireless telecommunications
and defence industries, announces the appointment of Dr Maura Moynihan as
Company Secretary following the resignation of Christopher Schofield from that
position.


Chris has also resigned as a director of Filtronic plc with effect from 2 April
2004. Chris is standing down to devote greater time and attention to the
development of Schofield Sweeney, the law firm based in Bradford and Leeds of
which he is a founding partner. The Board would like to thank Chris for his
contribution to Filtronic since his appointment in 1995.


Maura qualified as a solicitor in 1993 with Lovells and joined Filtronic in 2002
as General Counsel. She will continue as General Counsel in addition to her role
as Company Secretary. Maura's background gives her particular expertise in the
fields of intellectual property and company and commercial law.
