Empyrean Energy PLC 04 October 2006 Empyrean Energy PLC ('Empyrean' or the 'Company'; Ticker: (EME)) Sugarloaf Hosston Prospect, Texas USA ------------------------------------- • Succesfully run and cemented 9-5/8' INTERMEDIATE casing AIM quoted Empyrean Energy PLC today announces that at 6am Texas time on 3rd of October 2006 the Sugarloaf-1 exploration well, located in the onshore Gulf Coast Basin in Texas, USA, was running drill pipe into the well in order to drill ahead in 8-1/2'' diameter hole. Since the last report, 9-5/8'' intermediate casing was successfully run and cemented into the well to a depth of 14,480 feet (4,413m). The operator will now continue drilling in 8-1/2'' diameter hole towards the primary Hosston target which is expected at approximately 17,000 feet (5,182m) and then to a total depth of 21,000 feet (6,400m). There is a further secondary target in carbonate rocks between the present depth and just above the Hosston target.
