Empyrean Energy PLC 20 September 2006 Empyrean Energy PLC ('Empyrean' or the 'Company'; Ticker: (EME)) Sugarloaf Hosston Prospect, Texas USA ------------------------------------- GAS SHOWS ENCOUNTERED IN CRETACEOUS CARBONATES AIM quoted Empyrean Energy PLC today announces that at 6am Texas time on 19th September 2006 the Sugarloaf-1 exploration well, located in the onshore Gulf Coast Basin in Texas, USA, was drilling ahead in 12-1/4' hole at a depth of 12,480 feet (3,805 metres). During the week, gas shows were encountered in a secondary target - one of the Cretaceous aged carbonate formations. The well will continue drilling to the next casing point currently programmed at around 14,500 feet (4,420 metres). The possible commercial significance of the gas shows will be determined from interpretation of wire-line logs which will be run prior to the setting of casing. The primary Hosston target is expected to be reached in mid to late October and the total depth of 21,000 feet (6,400 metres) in mid November.
