On 26 July 1999, The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc bought back a further
90,000 ordinary shares for cancellation at a price of 490.0p. Following the
buy back, there are 288,128,471 ordinary shares in issue. The share buy-back
will be financed out of the capital reserve.
